报告摘要:This presentation will briefly cover research activities carried out within the Sir Lawrence Wackett Aerospace Research Centre at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and of the Multifunctional Composite Research Group. RMIT is a leader in Aerospace Engineering and Aviation Research and Training in Australia. The SLWARC are developing enabling technologies for next-generation air transportation systems and composite materials and structures have been areas of strength of the Centre for more than 25 years.
报告人简历:Dr. Pier Marzocca is a Professor and Associate Dean of the School of Engineering (Aerospace, Engineering and Aviation Discipline) at RMIT University. Prior to this appointment in 2003 Dr. Marzocca joined the Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering Department at Clarkson University as an Assistant (2003-2009), Associate (2009-2014), and Full Professor (2014). He received his doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy in 2001, and worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Visiting Assistant Professor in Engineering Science and Mechanics at Virginia Tech during the period 2001-2003. Part of his PhD training occurred at Virginia Tech (1999-2000) under the supervision of Professor Liviu Librescu. Professor Marzocca has been working in the field of aerospace engineering since 1996 and specializes in multi-physics modeling and characterization of advanced materials and structures, dealing with the interactions among advanced structures and fluids, magnetic, electric, and thermal fields. His expertise is in structural dynamics and controls of advanced aerospace systems, including active flow and aeroelastic controls of flexible structures. Professor Marzocca spectrum of recent projects involve design, modeling, and testing of aerospace and energy systems, including wind turbine blades, multifunctional composite and functionally graded structures, unmanned aerial vehicle systems, energy efficiency and harvesting systems. He leads/co-leads a number of research projects, totaling more than $8,000,000 in funding from several government agencies, including DST Group, DSI, NSF, AFOSR, ARMY, ONR, DOE, EPA, and NYSERDA, private foundations, and industries, including GE and Pratt & Whitney. Dr. Marzocca’s received several awards including the Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award and the Forest R. McFarland Award from SAE, the ONR ASEE Senior Faculty Fellowship Award, the Inaugural Research Excellence Award and the Outstanding New Teacher Award of Clarkson University, the “Antonio Bertolotti” Award of the Politecnico di Torino. He is an Associate Fellow of AIAA and Chair of the SAE Unmanned Aircraft System Technical Committee, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sciences, Associate Editor of ASCE Journal of Aerospace Engineering, and Journal of Thermal Stresses. Pier Marzocca is the author and/or co-author of over 350 papers and reviewer for more than 50 National and International Journals and books.
